Obituary of Millie Kiser Freeman
Millie Kiser Freeman passed away peacefully at her home on May 30, 2022 in Oxford, Iowa. She was 70 years old.
Millie was born February 29, 1952 in North Matewan, West Virgina, the daughter of Donald and Gypsy Kiser. Millie was married February 15, 1969 to Bill Freeman, who had just gotten out of the military at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, Louisiana. When they got back from Louisiana, Millie went to work for Mr. Steak in Coralville. After that Bill and Millie bought Freeman Locksmith and reincorporated it into Freeman Lock and Alarm Incorporated. She did the books along with taking phone calls and being the face of the company when customers came into the shop.
Millie was a very fiery and sarcastic person, who at times had a bit of a morbid sense of humor. She loved reading - primarily mystery and true crime novels. She enjoyed baking and used every opportunity to create a masterpiece of a cake that would taste as good as it looked. She took great pride in her appearance and made sure her make up was perfect before she started her day. Most of all her family was everything to her and she loved them to pieces. She will be missed, but her memory will be carried on through all who love her.
Millie’s family include her beloved husband of 53 years, Bill; daughters, Michell (Chad Kost) Freeman and Jenifer Freeman; grandchildren, Maya Freeman, Cece (Wyatt Phipps) Crow, Carter Crow, and Kiara Freeman; and brother, Donnie Kiser. Sadly, Millie is preceded in death by her mom, siblings, and her favorite dog, Sophie.
A simple cremation has been arranged for Millie in accordance with her wishes.
The Freeman family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses at Mercy Hospital and the staff from Iowa City Hospice for the wonderful care that they provided to Millie.
Please continue to keep Millie’s family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
