Obituary of Marilyn M. Bell

Marilyn M. Bell, age 88 of Ainsworth, formerly of Iowa City died at her home Monday, May 23, 2022, with family at her side. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in her memory to the Ainsworth Fire/First Responders Department, Ainsworth, Iowa. Marilyn Maxine Eash was born March 28, 1934, in Iowa City the daughter of Edward M. Eash and Sadie M. (Nelson) Eash. She attended schools in Iowa City, graduating from City High School. She married Leo A. Holderness, later marrying Carl H. Bell in 1973. For many years she worked for the University of Iowa in the dietary and housekeeping departments. Marilyn enjoyed the simple things in life, traveling, shopping, knitting, but most important her family. Her family includes her children, Connie Conner, Cheryl Dorothy (Rick), Carl Holderness and Rodney Holderness; 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and her brother, Jim Eash. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carl; son, Jimmy; daughter, Carol; grandsons, Sean Garrett Connor and Ron Eugene Jones; great-grandson, Caleb Yancey; and loving companion from her days living in Texas, Lowell.
