Sorry to hear of my friend Don's passing. We have been friends for many years. I believe our friendship began in Junior high and grew in High School. We hunted and fished together in those years. Later in High School we joined the Navy Reserved, attended weekly meetings and went off to boot camp atter graduation in June of 1957. During the summer of 1957 we worked together at
economy advertising. We went on active duty together in October of 1957 and we were both stationed at Naval Air Station, Iwakuni, Japan. Our friendship has continued with time spent together when I attended reunions or visited my parents in Iowa City. We also stayed connected with occasional phone calls, usually talking about the Hawkeyes, classmates, and photography. As we grow older we lose friends, but we don't lose the memories.
