Condolences
Im shocked and sad to know of my Uncles passing. My mother Ruby Washington, his half sister found him later in life. She knew she had an older brother but was forbidden to make contact.
She was so proud of him and who he became. They are now together in the next life since my mother passed over 11 years ago. My mother and siblings all met uncle Robert many years ago when he came to Texas to visit us. We would chat over the years and share on facebook but we were not close which I regret. I have some pictures my mom left us. My love to Kay, Andy and Christina. The interesting thing about all this is today is my mother's birthday and I received this news today. Kay if you would like they pictures please let me know.
Bob was one of the kindest, gentlest and caring persons I knew. Condolences to his family.
Dear Beloved Family of Bob, I have read his "We have all grown old...." poem over and over. So insightful and so Bob. I have copied it into one my important journals so will keep, re-read, share, and smile when I think of Bob and his many abilities. His sage advise offers guidance. Glad I got to know him and include him in my good people network. Sending good thoughts.
I’ve loved bob since high school we were best friends sorry
Family loss bob sweet kind man
Kay and family, I met Bob when we worked for the City, he was my mentor for many years producing cable shows about the water division. He had quick wit and extreme kindness, I won’t forget his smile or ability to move forward when it wasn’t easy. Thanks for sharing him with us Kay. On Angels wings Bob. Carol Sweeting
Sincere sympathies in the passing of Bob Hardy. I met him while working at an Iowa City consulting engineering firm, if not before, and saw him frequently when working with and attending City Council meetings. He always had a smile and a quick wit. I felt better when walking away after a conversation with Bob. He had many talents and am grateful to have known him. He was a person who stuck with you... and does with me to this day.
Kay and family, I hope you find comfort in the many loving memories you shared with Bob and wish you peace as you celebrate his life.
Bob was a nice guy. He made you feel welcomed. His dry humor and delivery were stellar. We knew each other mostly from his days at the City of Iowa City in the cable division. My favorite memory is he and Kay coming to a Halloween party dressed as each other. Best costumes ever. He deserves for us all to grieve and celebrate his life. My best to Kay.
I met Bob when he worked for the City of Iowa City. He brightened my day with his warm smile whenever he stopped by my office.
He always remembered my love for moose, sharing any encounters he had with them in his travels!
My sincere condolences to Kay and Family. He was one of the good ones!
My condolences to Kay and their family. I met Bob when he was the President of our Rotary group, the Downtown Iowa City Rotary Club. He became my sponsor and deftly introduced me to the members. As president he was never critical of my missing meetings for work. Later we would see each other at the meeting at the bar on the first Monday of the month for a beer. I enjoyed meeting him and getting to know him.
I'm sorry for your loss. It was always a good day when Bob would stop in my shop to say "Hi".
Kay, I am very sorry to read this sad news today. I remember when you two met and how happy you were dancing. You made a great team. He was such a nice guy. Sending love to you, Claire, and Emily...
Kay and family, You have our deepest sympathy for the loss of Bob. God bless you with peace and comfort.

I met Bob when he worked for the City and enjoyed every time we got a chance to talk. Bob was such a kind and funny person. We are so sorry to hear he's gone and our thoughts are with Kay and the kids.
Bob and I worked together at KCRG in the late 70's.. It was a fun time and Bob was part of the experience. He had a big heart, an easy going personality and a great camera eye. RIP, Aleda Kroeze Feuerbach
Bob was the funniest kind helpful City employee when I first moved to IC for my job at the Iowa City Housing Authority. It was his personable demeanor that we became instant friends. I was so grateful to Bobs generosity at many introductions to people that he knew. I remember his vast amount of crazy true stories that he would share so openly. One of my first memories of Bob was when I had locked my keys in my car and I quickly saw Kay and Bob walking across the street after work. I screamed “Bob, can you help me” I did not know Kay so as we became friends I teased her about this wacky lady yelling for her Bob!
I will remember Bob forever…he made a huge impact on many people which includes me.
Sarah McLachlan wrote…
“I will remember you” and Bob always did “remember me” He never let his “life pass you by” “Weep not for the memories” just remember the joy and love in Bobs soul.
I have looked for Bob over the corner of the fence as we always start spring with a nice chat to catch up
Thanks for sharing this beautiful tribute to a wonderful man. Bob always seemed so caring and accepting. His knowledge of Iowa City history astounded me. I remember one Christmas when you all were over. We chatted about old IC. Treasure those special memories. I know they will bring you peace and joy as time goes on. He’ll always be on your shoulder. ❤️
