As a Cub Scout, our pack went to sing Christmas carols at the V.A. Hospital. We sang Silent Night with Jack accompanying us on the harmonica. After we finished the patients asked if Jack would play it again without the singing. It sounded much better with just Jack playing. RIP

Stories of sharing times with Jack and you have been spinning through my mind... walking to and from Coralville School, bus rides to ICHS, late night car breakdown rescues, sewing projects, walks on UI campus, weddings, having kids, bluegrass festivals, shared meals, visits back and forth, and always the emails. Jack was a dear neighbor and friend.He was always willing to lend a hand. After my husband died he would reach out to see if I needed help and just stop over to check on me. I am eternally grateful. Jack I will miss you playing Tap’s from your yard to our homes!

Damn!.. My longtime Coralville friend, Jack Fesler, has passed away. I grew up "UP" the street from Jack. He lived in the wild and wooly 500 block of 8th avenue. Cannon boys, Siders Brothers, Myer boys, John Gough and others!. Jack was a Den Chief in Boy Scouts, TROOP 207, and I emulated him. He played in the old Coralville Band, the IOWA Marching Band, and the Military Veterans Band.. He was also our Scoutmaster for about a year in about 1961 ish. He drove a cool 1950 Buick or so! Great guy! He and I shard a lot of Old Coralville stories. .. Jack Fesler was my friend and a good guy!

Jack & I met in the Iowa Military Veterans Band around 2009 or 2010. We discovered that we lived near other & decided to share rides to the concert venues of the IMVB. We had many interesting conversations during those road trips. We truly enjoyed each other's company. One of our IMVB friends was in a terrible car accident about four years ago & was in the intensive care unit at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics for about a week & was transferred to a rehabilitation unit in Cedar Rapids. We travelled together to see our friend & again had great conversations, including sharing our military experiences with each other. Our friend recovered & returned home. From time to time, Jack & I would meet at Panera Bread in Coralville to share our time over our morning coffee. I will miss his comforting words & friendship. Peace & love to you.

Jack and I were first trumpet partners in Monday Night Live Bands for several years before Covid hit. We would pass the hard parts back and forth with each other, struggle with high notes and fast runs together, and glory in the success either of us achieved. His was the very sweet trumpet; mine was the louder one. I will miss him terribly; was going to encourage him to rejoin us this summer. He was a fun, supportive, funny and dear colleague. What a wonderful friend.

Ive known Jack forever. Really sorry for our loss. I have many memories of Jack, from grade school on through our army experiences. Now thats a story.I will miss his calls and notes.. Mostly about the Hawks or the politics.

Jack Fesler was one hellofa man. A lot of hearts are broken, including his Aunt Millie (Kimm) Carrier’s branch of this wonderful Kimm collection. As his mother Evelyn would often say, “if you think I’m crazy wait till you meet the rest of the family”! Which was actually directed at her sister, Millie, our mother, but still works well for the rest of us crazy Kimms, and we are damn proud of it. Jack was always the perfect gentleman; kind, grateful, and full of wisdom. He and I were regular email buddies which I will greatly miss. I called him Cuz, he tagged me Skipper. I have loved Jack & Lorna since their wedding back in ‘64. Together, what a wonderful team they are! Cheers to Jack on his new journey. Love to Lorna and the kids. Hang tough Lorna, and know you are loved.

Our condolences go out to you Lorna and your family. He was truly a special man. Though I got to know you both after my father’s funeral, even though spoke of you both often, he and I kept in touch regularly sharing memories of family. While I send my thoughts and prayers to the family, I share the loss of a favorite cousin. When we have come together to share time, we always have reminisced about the battle in the basement, and my ability to assume the "It's okay" stance when one of our parents would come downstairs to "see what was going on". Once again, we mourn the loss of one of the good guys.

Many other stories abound about our togetherness, but this is one of the main ones.
