Herbert A. "Herb" Wilson
1928 - 2022
Condolences
I have been so blessed to be a part of the Wilson family. I feel that through Uncle Herb, I learned the values taught to my mother Jan, and her siblings from their parents. They have become very much a part of me. I will greatly miss Uncle Herb. He was always there for us with a word of wisdom. He was also a part of the wonderful sense of humor that was a part of being a Wilson. I know that anyone who met him was greatly affected in some profound way. My thoughts and prayers go out to each and everyone of those who knew him best. I love you all and will treasure my memories and moments with all of you. There is a piece of my heart that feels empty now.

Sending our love and support to the Wilson family at the loss of an inspirational, wonderful man. His generous heart and strength of character lives on with you all. We so enjoyed visiting with Herb and Janice when they came to California to visit Chas and Phyllis. Though not attending the service in person, we will be there with you in spirit via livestream.

It meant everything to me that you and Herb would stop by to say hi when passing by my door. Sending my deepest condolences.

How fortunate indeed to know you and have spent time with you Herb. A remarkable life with you and Janice and your lovely family. My favorite trips with you included flying the Commander to Texas for the Purdue Bowl game, visiting the Alamo (I still have the book that you gave me) and getting stuck in Kansas City on the return home continuing a glass full experience. Oh, and those wonderful beef sandwiches that, when flying to Purdue for games, we had to make a special stop to pick up those sensational delicacies. Your passion for Rotary. Preucil and wrestling to name a few, is a clear representation to how you lived your life -
"All In!"
We will be unable to attend the service in person today but will livestream and will continue to think remarkable thoughts for your entire family. You will be deeply missed but there will always be your presence.

Condolences to the family and friends of Herb!
Herb touched my life (and uncountable lives) through Rotary and in the early 1990's as an early believer in and supporter of the Iowa Firefighters' Memorial Park & Visitors Center in Coralville, Iowa. Even in the early stages when the project (it was smaller at that time than the final result today) was in significant doubt -- Herb provided generous support and encouragement. I was consultant to that project and I will always remember the warmth, generosity and inspiration we received while meeting with Herb at his home.
Rest in peace Herb...you have been a bright beacon of light and hope to the world around you...and that legacy will continue through the lives you touched and the people you inspired. Sincerely, Paul Kirpes, TPG Companies, Des Moines, Iowa
Humanity has suffered a great loss with Herb's passing. We give thanks for so many things about his life - faith, friendliness, compassion, generosity, wisdom, commitment to family/community/philanthropy, .... and the list goes on. He is now welcomed home by God and the company of saints gone before us. We pray God's steadfastness will provide comfort and support through the very wide circle of friends that surrounds you. A long, productive life. A great neighbor and tennis foe. 69 years for you, 68 for Joyce and I. Only 90 years here.
A wonderful family. Lots to be thankful for.
My sympathy,
Bob Whinery.
Herb was one of a kind who exemplified the best a human being can be. He will be greatly missed. Our sympathies.
Herb was a true gentleman and will be missed by many people that knew him.
Herb was the best of men. He & Janice were philanthropic, lending help to many in Johnson County. I will always remember his warm smile & firm handshake. His memory is a blessing.
Herb was the best and I will miss my friend. He was a treasure and I am glad I got to know him.

Our deepest sympathies to the Wilson family for the loss of a truly fine man and friend. Mrs. Bill Olin (Bertha) and family.
Family of Herb, I am sending prayers and deep sympathy to you all. I enjoyed getting to know Herb and Jan a little in the few years I worked at Oaknoll. They always had a smile and kind word!

Dear Janice,
The world has lost a very good man. He was so wise, kind, compassionate, and generous. And, we were blessed with his wit and humor.
We know that you and your family will have wonderful memories to keep Herb close. We will, as well.
Take care,
Steve and Rose Rennekamp
I am sad to hear about Herb. He was a member of our Church and was always willing to help in the mission of the Church. He gave to many causes in the Iowa City region. He was a friend and I enjoyed talking to him.
I trust that God gave him an easy passage from this life to the next eternal one.
May God bless the family.

Janice and Wilson Family --
Please accept our sincerest condolences on the loss of Herb. My mother, Betty, so enjoyed living across the hall at Oaknoll and you were both always so helpful and friendly. I know that Betty was grateful to be able to be a friend of Pasrur and learn of the great progress being made there. God Bless.
The Rotary Action Group for Clubfoot is honored to have had Herb as the founder and as a champion for this group. Under his leadership, thousands of individuals world-wide will benefit from his vision to form this group to positively impact (medical) training across the globe. His humanitarian efforts are model for us all.
