Mrs. Hills Business Class was a class I attended at MHS. She was always kind and helpful. I had 2 years of classes and they helped in many ways in life.

I am sorry to hear of her loss. I thought of her often.

My deepest condolences to all who loved her. I had no idea she was musically talented. Great to hear.

As you know, your mom was organist at our Presbyterian Chruch for many years. She played the organ for my wife's funeral back in 1982. I gave her $50 for doing that, but rather than keeping it for herself (as I had intended), she passed it on to the church's music fund. She was truly a giving and thoughtful person. She and her husband, Lee, were pillars in our church and friends to us all. Quite often, as I drove down 6th St in Marshalltown, I would see her taking her daily walk...which probably contributed to her longevity. I will truly miss her. Edward Jackson, Marshalltown.

Mrs. Hillis was my shorthand teacher at Marshalltown High School. I loved her and I loved her class. When I got a speeding ticket, my parents made me get a job to pay the fine. Mrs. Hillis got me a job in the credit department of Montgomery Wards. I did use my shorthand skills for a few years when I worked for the County Auditor and then attorney John Mowry. After all these years, I can still do a few of the characters. In later years, I remember seeing her walking up and down 6th Street in Marshalltown and it always made me smile to see her with her hands crossed behind her back walking for all she was worth.
