William Arthur Fetters was born November 21, 1936, at Ft. Scott, in Kansas, the son of Elmer and Thelma (Shumate) Fetters. Their family moved to this area from Kansas in 1942, and as a young man couldn’t wait to enter the workforce. For many years he worked as a driver for the Dale Lee Distributing Company, he liked being the “Bud Man”! In his retirement he continued driving vehicles for area auto dealers. William was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Football fan, avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan, he enjoyed driving even when not at work, like to work with wood in his shed, watch old westerns and listen to Blue Grass either in person at festivals or on the radio. But most important in his life was his family and friends! His family includes his children, Dianna Evans (Sheldon), Rhonda Fetters, Crystal Schulte (Chad), and Darren Fetters (Lisa Bertoli); stepchildren, Teresa Swanson (Jeffrey) and Christina Barnes (Joseph); 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 5 step-great-grandchildren; William’s sister, Altis Tisdale and his former wife, Ruth Parson. William was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beatrice whom he married in June of 1987 and she died in December of 2009; 4 brothers, Charles, Cecil, Albert and Eugene; 1 sister, Ruth Ann Matson; grandson, Tyler Fetters, and daughter-in-law, Theresa Fetters; and step-son, Scott Woodruff.
