Obituary of Judi L. Bartels

Judi L. Bartels, age 61, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at her home. Judi Lynn Dunsmore was born December 7, 1960, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Keokuk, Iowa. She received her degree in respiratory therapy at Kirkwood Community College. She was employed by the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for many years. Judi was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Judi will be remembered for her kind spirit and her creativity. She married Steven L. Bartels on November 17, 1990. They enjoyed so much together, vacationing, crafting, going to flea markets, garage sales, and yard sales. Judi was always on the hunt to find that perfect antique she was always looking for. They attended annual renaissance festivals that Judi handmade costumes for. She enjoyed planning different trips and vacations to look forward to. Judi loved Christmas and celebrated by hand-making gifts and cards. She curated very interesting collections of musical instruments and mannequins. They loved to travel and take advantage of the family timeshare each year with other family members. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She loved her family, friends, and life itself! Her family includes her husband, Steve; father, James Dunsmore; children, Jonathan Cody Bevans (Shelley), Kasie Nicole Haskins (Tyson), and Joseph Mitchell Bevans (Jamie); her grandchildren and siblings, Mari Robertson, Lori Dunsmore, and Jerry Dunsmore. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sara Anne Dunsmore. Judi’s request was no public services be held. A memorial gathering and celebration of Judi’s life will be arranged at a later date.
