Obituary of Phyllis J. Gideon

Phyllis J. Gideon, age 91, went to her home in Heaven prepared for her by her Savior on December 6, 2021. Phyllis was born January 18, 1930 in Wapello County, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Erma (Boyd) Pickerell. Phyllis was a very kind, loving and devoted woman, who held deep devotion to her family and faith. She was very artistic and enjoyed crafting in her free time, making gifts for her family and friends. She was a Sunday school teacher for years, and the church secretary at Grace Baptist Church in Winterset. The lessons in faith, family and kindness that Phyllis has taught will continue to live on through those that love her. She will be truly missed. Phyllis’ family include her beloved husband of 70 years, Robert; children, Sheila Gideon, James (Betsy) Gideon and Pamela (Bruce) Moen; daughter-in-law, Rhonna Uyenshi; eight grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and Phyllis and Robert’s “acquired” grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who are like family to them. Sadly, Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Erma; children, Kathy and Robert Jr.; and her siblings. Phyllis’ family have arranged for a simple cremation in accordance with her wishes. She will be laid to rest at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa.
