Dear Kathryn,

We will miss Jerry’s wisdom and sense of humor. A great listener, he was one of those rare friends you could go to for advice and come away feeling better. Jerry had a way of adding value to what he did. Having served in Laos with the Special Forces Mobile Training Teams, he was a supportive friend to a number of us Vietnam veterans who worked at Joe’s Place in early 1971, among them Mike Irwin, Jim Gaul, Jim Beamon, John Morrison, and myself. Kathryn, I was so sorry to get this news. Jerry was one of the most interesting men I ever knew. He was a good friend to Jack and me. We always looked forward to his phone calls. He will be greatly missed.

Jerry's knowledge on ww11 blew me away and it still does! He confirmed for me what my dad always told me about my family and what they really did at such a tragic time in history. He knew names of people in the former Yugoslavia that usually only the Serbian people knew, that saved so many American service men's lives. That alone astounded me. He taught me what true hero's they really were, when history books taught me something totally different! For that Jerry is and always will be my hero.. His intellect surpassed anyone I have ever met. I will miss our long talks and picking his brain about the war. Most of all I will miss his love he so freely gave to all he met. We love you Kathryn and I know Jerry is at peace with our Lord. No more wars but I still have so much to learn. I can't wait to see him again so I can learn more and give him a big hug. RIP my dear friend. You will be truly missed.
