Condolences
Dr DeProsse was my one my mentors when I was a resident at UIHC; he was a kind and humble person and showed me how to deliver the best of care to our patients. I strive to follow his teachings to this day and for that I am forever grateful. We miss you but will always keep you in our hearts, Dr. DeProsse!

Today I have been thinking about Dr. deProsse, a giant in the world of ob-gyn. He was a man who devoted his professional life to the advocacy of women. As we hear this news about Roe v. Wade, I can feel his tears from where ever he is...in heaven, or the cosmos. He taught me so much about the dignity of the human race, yet today I struggle with these people who feel it is their place to decide what I can and can not do with my body. I became a better doctor, a better mother, a better person for his impact on my life.
To Carol and other family members of Dr. deProsse:
I am very sorry to hear about the passing of my good friend and colleague. I was the Director of the Johnson County Department of Public Health for 25 years, and I was very fortunate to have Dr. DeProsse on the Johnson County Board of Health for many of those years. Dr. deProsse was not onlhy dedicated to his OB/GYN practice, but to Public Health as well. Although Chuck was always very busy at UIHC, he always had time to listen to my concerns; he was my mentor, advisor and counselor on many public health issues. He was a dedicated, gentle, kind man who was wanted to be of service to his community. I was very blessed to have known him and I will cherish my memories of working with him.

I first met Chuck at the UIHC walk-in evening women's clinic in 1972. I later served with him on the Johnson County Board of Health. I can say without exaggeration that he was one of the kindest, most thoughtful people I have met. Susan Frye, Iowa City.
Dr deProsse was a professional, caring physician. I was privileged to meet and work with him at UHIC. My sympathies to his family.
My condolences to Chuck's family. I worked with him at the University for many years.

Dr. deProsse was a fabulous human being. He was an incredible practitioner and advocate for the health of all the populace, especially women. He worked incredibly hard, knew “everything” and volunteered always to initiate new programs or just help out when needed. He was a passionate demonstrator whether locally or nationally and a role model for us who were lucky to have him be a part of our training, practices, or lives. Fly high, sir!! You were one of the best!
I served with him on several public health committees over the years and truly appreciated his insight and wonderful sense of humor. The community has lost a great advocate for public health. You have my deepest sympathy.
He was a great man and will be missed forever by so many.

Dear Carol and family,
I just learned of the transition of Chuck. What a special man he was! It was an honor to work with him at the Cedar Rapids Clinic for Women. He was a giant among those who defended women's right to choose abortion, and to serve in that capacity.
I have thought of him so very often, and am saddened that I didn't reach out to him. May your many memories sustain you in this time of grief. I hold you in prayer.

So sorry to hear this. Chuck was a wonderful man, a true pioneer, and a champion of women's rights. He did so much for so many. And he lived life to the fullest, always making the most of the time he had. He will be missed.
Dr. deProsse was a pioneer and tireless advocate for reproductive health access. He was integral to the expansion of abortion access in New York as well as in Iowa. He is a person who I admire and want to emulate. He will be deeply missed.
