Obituary of Isaiah D. Washpun

Isaiah Dashaun Washpun, 25, of Iowa City, IA, went home to be with the Lord on April 26, 2019.

Isaiah was born March 2, 1994 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics; the son of Kenneth and Tara (Wigfall) Washpun.

He grew up in Iowa City where he graduated from City High School in 2012. He was active in football, basketball, and track. Following high school, he attended Iowa Western Community College where he played football.

Isaiah always maintained employment. He last worked at Lint Moving Company.

He gave his life to Christ at an early age by becoming a solider at the Iowa City Salvation Army where he participated in many church activities.

He enjoyed video games, cooking, and hanging out with family and friends. He was a very affectionate person with a contagious laugh and a smile that would light up any room. Whether giving great big bear hugs or gentle ones you always felt his love and couldn’t help but love him in return.

His family includes his parents Kenneth and Tara; siblings, Tamika (Glen) McCue, Xavier Washpun, and Elianah Washpun; great grandmother, Minnie Taylor; grandfathers, Bertram Goodman and Lorenzo (Rose) Small; aunts and uncles, Eric (Mikkea) Washpun, LJ (Nicole) Small, Mary Small, Tiffany Wigfall, Bryan Pierson and Justin Washpun; nieces, Simone, Maraya and Jazlyn, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Isaiah was preceded in death by his grandparents, Linda and Larry (Pops) Jackson and Josie Jackson; aunt, Chiquita Washpun, and niece, Precious Pierson.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm Saturday May 4, 2019, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service.  Funeral services will include visitation from 1:00pm-3:00pm and services 3:00pm-5:00pm on May 4th, 2019.
