I was so blessed and lucky to have Mr. Dye as my teacher, just like so many others that have posted (class of '75). His smile and willingness to help (amongst many more of his wonderful features) is always what made me want to come to class! I will forever consider him the best of the best!!!!! Mr. Dye, thank-you so much for impacting my life in a way I could never forget. To the family-thank-you all for sharing him with us! Know that he is being well taken care of by our Lord and in a beautiful, wonderful place! I pray with time that your broken hearts will heal! God bless!

My sincere condolences to the family of Dale. I knew Dale through the Quad City Coin Club and learned a lot from him. He was always unselfish with his time especially driving every month to the Quad Cities and being so supportive.

I will certainly miss him. His grandson Nathan went to the same school in Crystal Lake in kindergarten and first grade as my son Kyle, before we moved to the Quad Cities.

We are so sorry to learn of Dale's passing. We have fond memories of visiting you when we came to Iowa to visit Aunt Mary. Our children were very small and we were very young. LOL Sorry we couldn't get in touch more over the years.

I have happy memories of Dale coming to the farm and visiting the cousins. We always had a fun time playing together. Especially the memories of us picking up corn cobs to start fires in the old wood stove. Also riding the hogs, which were very daring for all of us.

We can see by his obituary that he had a wonderful career in teaching and caring for others. Your family can be very proud of him.

Mr. Dye was absolutely my favorite teacher at West High. I called him after my first child was born and he promised to teach what we had discussed. He always knew me when we ran into each other. So fun to see him out with his buddies. I’m thinking of you and your family.

My Prayers are with the Dye Family, I have know Dale for many years now in coin collecting, was a gentleman and a teacher in coins as well. Dale will me missed. Blessings to all the family.

We moved to Waverly in 1966 where my Dad, Ray Richardson, pastored the First Baptist Church where Dale and Betty and family attended. Dale was always an inspiration to me. I was honored to babysit his kids when he and Betty were able to go out for a night. Dale and Betty always meant so much to me, and I know that it is only with God's strength that Betty and family will be able to get through this loss. May God give you great peace as you say goodbye to Dale here on earth, but look forward to seeing him again in heaven. You are in my prayers!!

I knew Dale since 2011, we shared seats at Carver-Hawkeye for Iowa Wrestling and attended meeting at the QC Coin Club. Dale was a man with great knowledge of the sport of wrestling and knew a thing or two about coin collecting. He was always happy to share his knowledge and maintain a positive outlook throughout his many encounters. I don't remember him every meeting a stranger.

We were shocked to hear that Dale had died. We will miss seeing him when we

During my freshman year (‘84) I would hear from friends who were sophomores who & why they liked for biology class. From their descriptions I knew I would not only learn well under his style of teaching but that it would be a blast! I mean, how many teachers can get delivery of lobster tails for a treat after dissecting the rest of the critter in a crustacean unit?!?!!

I took much of what he taught & shared it as I homeschooled my own children. He exuded joy in learning and teaching. I’m so grateful to have been his student.

I’m saddened to hear of his passing, but I praise God in his home-going where we will meet again. My thoughts and prayers are with his family that you experience the comfort and peace that our Heavenly Father promises us.

I only knew Dale through the Cedar Rapids Coin Club, but he was my favorite person to be around during the meetings. I knew that he was a Christian by our conversations and sometimes he would ask me to pray for specific people in his life. I missed him the last two meetings and should have followed up to find out why he was absent. Dale will be missed but I look forward to the future when I will see him again in Heaven.

Dale was a real good friend of mine. He visited the Sycamore Mall, where I currently work, all the time. His conversations and love for life were addictive. To his family, I know I dont know you, but you have my deepest sympathies. May the LORD BLESS you all. Rest In Heaven Dale!! You will be missed.

I graduated in ‘95 and had Mr Dye my sophomore year for biology. I was horrible at biology...became an architect which is probably the furthest thing from biology. :) But Mr Dye was significant to me because of his faith. And although quiet about it in our very liberal school...I still knew it! And that was very, very reassuring at that age! Prayers are with you during this time of grief, thankful we know he is with Christ.

Mr. Dye was awesome and I loved his biology class. Above all I remember his outgoing nature and great sense of humor. My sympathies to his family and the countless lives he touched in his passion to teaching.

Now I know more of why he was one my favorite teachers at West. As a follower of Jesus, he was filled with God's love and he let it shine out in how he loved those around him. I have been blessed to have him as part of my life.

I grew up just east of your family, at 1139 E.Court. Back in 1969, I was talked into transferring to the new IC West by some ball player friends, so I left Regina and became a member of the first sophomore class at West. I was fortunate to draw Mr. Dye as my biology teacher, and he taught us all so much more than just science. His ever present smile and attitude was compelling. While I returned to Regina as a junior, I had earned a friend and neighbor in your husband and father. Please accept my condolences, he will surely be missed by many!

Mr. Dye - my favorite biology teacher, always a smile and hello, even had time to have coffee with my late parents at HyVee. I feel very fortunate to have known you.

There are some teachers that just stick out. Mr. Dye was definitely one of them! He made Biology fun and interesting. One of my fondest memories in all of high school was disecting and then eating a lobster during class! He was one of the best! I attended West High School from 1968-1974. We were the only class that went through junior and senior high school there. I clearly remember Mr. Dye and his biology class to this day. He was a very good teacher and that is from my student view and my teacher view. I am sorry to hear of his passing and the loss to his family and community.

Wow!! So sorry to hear that Mr. Dye has passed. He was a fabulous Science Teacher and friend. I helped take care of the various mice and rats in the lab room, and he would come in and help. He also helped me conduct a genetics study on a group of mice. I wasn't the best student in Science class, but he was definitely a GREAT teacher. I'm so glad to hear he is now in Heaven with his Savior, Jesus Christ. May God be with his family members, and bring them comfort during this time of loss. God bless.

Dale was our neighbor for many years (until we moved last year). He was such a kind person! My fondest memory is seeing him snowblowing another neighbor's long sidewalk when she was unable to. Years ago, our foreign exchange student, Katsushi Suzuki, said Mr. Dye was the best teacher, and I see in these condolences that so many students agree. In more recent years, I'd see Dale visiting with with his guy friends at Panera's, and he always had a friendly greeting. Dale Dye made the world was a better place. Sending sympathy to all his family and friends.

Mr. Dye was an absolute gem. I looked forward to his biology class every week and fondly remember the fun and enthusiasm he infused every lesson with. He was a fun loving man with the best of hearts.

Mr. Dye was one of my favorite teachers in high school. Frankly, science was NOT my favorite subject, but I sure enjoyed it with him. I was lucky enough to have my locker right outside Mr.Dye’s classroom for all four years of HS. I’m not sure there was ever a day he wasn’t standing outside his door offering smiles, words of encouragement, or just general happiness and joy. He certainly knew how to live life, and I’m a better person for his influence.

I am so sorry for your loss, please find comfort knowing his profound and lasting effect on this world.

Mr. Dye was one of the best. A great teacher, a kind soul, giant heart and a smile that would light up the room. I loved every moment of his biology classes. Went on to be a biology major and now work as a clinical laboratory scientist. I still remember the day we got to type our blood in class, it was so cool! Now I get paid to type blood...thanks for the career direction Mr. Dye.

Mr. Dye was a great teacher. I can still hear his voice from Biology class at West High even though I graduated in '76! Truly a remarkable man. Sincerest condolences.

The world has lost a truly amazing man. Mr. Dye was my science teacher all through high school and a friend after.

When I was working at the VA Medical Center, he and his stamp group would meet in the cafeteria. He would always show up early so we could chat. He truly cared about everyone and showed respect to all he met.

Mr Dye was my teacher in 1973, he was terrific. I was allowed to Do an independent research project with him. He was very easy to approach and a wonderful example of what a teacher should be. This is very sad news. I really enjoyed all of my classes with Mr. Dye in high school. He was one of my favorite smiles at West High. We just lost a wonderful man. My sincere condolences to his family.

He was a great person & a great teacher. I had him for Biology in 10th grade, he was very funny & I remember him bringing in coins from his coin collection. Some days we spent the entire class period looking & talking about coins & never even spent time learning about science, it was great.

I would always see him at the Iowa Wrestling meets where he sat only a few rows behind us. I actually just saw him in December at one of the Wrestling Meets. He will be missed, My condolences to his family

I was a student in Mr. Dye's Biology class. He was a great teacher. He had a serious side, a humorous side, and a friendly and caring side of him. I enjoyed his class. He made things challenging but for good reason. He made what i learned in a fun and exciting way.

I used to see him when I would walk home from my girlfriend’s place shortly after he retired. He would always stop what he was doing and chat with me for a few minutes. This went on for weeks. I really enjoyed him as a teacher but I enjoyed those brief talks even more. He was a great person.

Mr. Dye was a great teacher! He made me think, explore, and ponder! He helped me learn to question and prove my ideas resulting in life long learning. Thinking of Mr. Dye’s family at this time!

I'm so sad to hear of Mr Dye's passing. He was one of the best teachers I've ever had! He kept us on our toes and infused plenty of humor into each class to keep us interested and entertained. After High School, he would frequently come into Hy-Vee where I worked at the time, and he always stopped to talk to me and tell a story. I have thought of him often over the years. He was a real kindred spirit and will be missed by everyone who's lives he touched.

Mr Dye was one of my favorite teachers. He had a great passion for teaching and a wicked sense of humor that made Biology so much more fun. When I graduated from the University of Iowa he came to my graduation party with a picture of Clint Eastwood telling me he had used all the luck he needed out of the picture and now it was time for it to give me luck. I still have the picture to this day. Thank you Mr Dye.

The world is a better place for having Dale Dye live in it and share his many talents and generous gifts with us all. I know he had a huge impact on the way that myself and many of my classmates approach life and the way that we treat others. I am very saddened to hear of his passing just a couple of short weeks after I was singing his praise to a few neighbors who live just a couple of houses away. I am glad they got to know him, and I am saddened that I didn't stop by to say hello. Safe home, Dale Dye. You were truly one of the great ones, because you helped mold so many of us to be good ones.
