I had the chance to meet Uncle Maynard at our wedding reception in October 2009. While we were shortly acquainted, it didn't take me long to realize that Uncle Maynard was a kind man with a big heart like everyone in the family. To Maynards family - I worked out of the Iowa City DOT office and would get up to the Oakdale Shop so remember Maynard very well. He always had a smile on his face and friendly words to say. Also remember your Mom from various DOT events and enjoyed visiting with her. My sincere condolences to you all.

Tom, Terry and family, we are so saddened at Maynard’s passing! He was such a sweet man and a great neighbor. Always loved visiting him, he always had some good stories.Great friend!
My Uncle Maynard was a good man and I'm proud we each got to be apart of each other lives. Growing up in North Liberty I remember seeing him drive his truck, trick or treating at his house and all of the stories whenever we next saw each other. He liked being in the know and once he knew something he was always looking for the next person to tell. I will miss the new stories but I won't forget the old ones.
I am so sorry to hear about Maynard's passing. I grew up in North Liberty and Maynard was one of those people that was a fixture in the community. He always offered a friendly greeting, a big smile, or was willing to chat. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.
