Although the circumstances are very sad, this beautiful obituary is a fantastic portrait of Pat. Thank you for that, because after so many years it allowed me to get reacquainted with him.

Pat was a good friend in the 70s. I was from another town and in those days it could be an issue. It never was with my friend Pat. I won't forget you. Good bye my friend.

Pat was so humble and always welcoming when we would come to visit. I have been so blessed getting to know both Debbie and Pat. My thoughts and prayers continue to be sent to you!

I only knew Pat through his brother Doug Heiken and Doug and Mary Heiken are dear friends of mine and my late wife Mary Ellen Kollmer (1950 to 2009).

But I feel a brothers love for all the Heikens and offer my condolences to Pat's family.

What a beautiful write-up by Pat’s beloved Debbie. Amazingly accurate and a reminder of all the little kindnesses this man showed. He truly knew how to make people feel special as this was his natural ability. Oh how I will miss him!!!

Through my tears I am laughing at the “help stamp out Republicans” story. But what a great idea in this divided environment today. Be more like Pat!

Pat was always a favorite customer at Walmart. 'Be a Pat' was exactly what I loved about him....his kindness was always appreciated! He will be missed.

Pat was one of the politest, kindest and sincerest friends/relative that I had. We were cousins, later in life we enjoyed sharing stories of our youth with each other. For example, when my dad was visiting Byard and left his pickup running in their driveway for hours until it ran out of gas! (My dad only intended to stop by and visit the Heikens for a few minutes). Also, when his mother Anna Mae visited me in the hospital in Atlantic and brought me a storybook.

Both my Dad and Byard were inventors. Pat had told me the story about when Byard invented a dipstick for John Deere tractors and got the whole family involved in making and mailing the dipsticks throughout the country.

We will miss you Pat and your mom and dad forever. I am proud to have been your cousin. Phil & Sandy

Pat, you were one of my oldest and dearest friends, hadnt seen or talked to you since our 20th reunion in 92 and am very sorry we hadnt crossed paths since, you Rest in Piece now Brother and will see you in the far future, RT

Pat and I (Patti Esbeck) we’re in the same class at Pymosa Elementary. I have so many memories of Pat growing up through those Pymosa years, then on to Jackson 6th grade in Atlantic. I am sorry I didn’t continue to know Pat after high school. He is one of the many successful adults coming from Pymosa. He lived a love filled life. Darn that cancer that takes away people way to early. My thoughts are with you all.

Papa Pat (or PP for short) is the greatest man I have ever met. I cannot express into words how much he has done for me. PP taught me how to love myself and everyone else around me. He is the most kind, generous, courageous, funny, intelligent man to grace my life. Love you forever Papa Pat and this world is going to be a little darker without you here. Thank you for being the best grandpa I could have ever asked for. Rest In Peace best friend.

Such a beautiful tribute to Pat! The Gude’s have so many fond memories of the Heiken family. Pat is gone too soon but he obviously left a lasting and very special legacy. Blessings to all of you.

I have never known anyone like Pat Heiken. He would light up a room when he entered, and not due to himself, but due to the love he held for others. I was there with him the day the 420 flipped. Pat and I found all kinds of ways to get in trouble, and I wouldn't do anything different. I loved Pat as a cousin and a friend. His physical presence will be missed, but he will always be with us. God bless Pat and all who knew him. Thanks for being part of my life.

One of the best people I've ever met, period. I had the pleasure of living 2 houses down from Pat (and his lovely wife Deb) for about 15 years with my family. Because of him, so many of our family dinners and get-togethers were full of laughter and joy. He was truly funny and authentically generous. I'll always miss his sparkling eyes and tireless wit, and I'll think of him often. A model human to say the least. RIP.

I am so sorry to hear this very sad news. Even though I have not seen Pat in many years, I remember him from church and school. Always smiling and up to some mischief, which I am glad to hear he retained his whole life. God bless you on your journey to your heavenly home.
