Obituary of Alice Bernice Beard

Alice Bernice “Bunnie” Beard, age 101 longtime resident of Oxford died Thursday, September 27, 2018, at the Lantern Park Specialty Care Center in Coralville, where she has resided the past five years.

Funeral services will be held at 10am Friday, October 5, 2018, at the St. Mary’s Auditorium in Oxford, followed by burial at the Oxford Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the Oxford Chapel of Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Alice Bernice Williams was born on August 22, 1917, the daughter of Fred and Mary Williams. Bunnie married Richard “Babe” Beard June 2, 1939 in Oxford.  They had three children, Jeanie of Coralville, Locke and Bill of Oxford.  Bunnie was one of nine children, with 4 sisters still living, Janette of Des Moines, Esther of Mesa, AZ, Juanita and Beatrice of California.  She was preceded in death by brother, Lynn and Don; sisters Betty and Delores; and her parents, and husband, Babe.  Six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren will miss their Grandma Bunnie!
