Condolences
Mark and Scott, so sorry to hear about your Dad. Many great memories made throughout our yrs starting with little league and much time spent at his house though jr high and high school. Will alway remember the spaghetti dinner around the kitchen table.
Mark & Scott, My mom shared with me the news of your dad's passing. Growing up on Arbor Circle, your dad always treated me like one of you whether it was learning how to play volleyball in your backyard, going to church, riding the dirt bike, sledding at City Park, making the newspaper with a photo of us ice skating, and so much more. I will always remember his larger-than-life personality, sense of humor, and his messy work room! My childhood certainly wouldn't have been the same without you all!
Thinking of you and prayers for comfort.
Mark & Scott I have tried for a week since A.J. called me to form what I wanted to say to you. I have loved you both & your dad for so many years it's difficult. I always laughed with & at your dad, he often assured me & asked for an ear when he received his diagnosis.
God bless you Mary for all of the love and care you showed Chuck. You helped me deal with my pain at his birthday party.
I will pray for you all to find peace as we miss him. I'm certain he is in a better position to laugh as pranks us. All my love,
Carol
Have had you all in our thoughts and prayers. It surely was a comfort to Chuck to have his family with him through those last days with heavy decisions to be made.
Think mostly of the good visits we had through the years, sailing in Wisconsin, seeing Mark shortly after birth, picnicking in the park with extra hamburgers for Chuck and sculptures being designed in their bathtub as Chuck finished his masters.
So glad we could lunch with Chuck, Mary, Jane and Dale shortly before additional health issues took him to the hospital.
Mark and Scott... so very sad for you and your families. Like Paul, I have many great memories of sleep overs and interacting with Chuck. He was always bigger than life to a grade school kid.
Mark and Scott, Your Dad....such a vibrant and hilarious man! So many memories come to mind..I’m so sorry for your heartbreaking loss. He adored you both so much! You are both in my prayers. Love, Jennie (Todd and Casey too)
Mark and Scott I am so sorry to hear about Chuck. I have great memories of him and playing ping-pong and trying not to wake him! Bonfires in the backyard was always a good time. Be strong my old friends.
Chuck was a regular customer at the store I worked at during college. He was always reliably efficient, interesting and funny. He was a beacon and a ballast each time he came into the store, and I have remembered his wit & wisdom for 20 plus years. I’m so sorry for your loss.
I am the daughter of Rev. Dick Watkins. He was a pastor at First United Methodist in Iowa City in late '80's until 1995. He told us many stories and bits of Chuck's wisdom. He enjoyed knowing Chuck. He never, ever had a negative word to say about him. God bless.
Scott and Mark,
I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I always remember him being such a nice man. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Love, Stacy Alvarez
Chuck was a welcome sight for many years at FUMC and definitely a character with a quick wit. I always enjoyed my conversations with Chuck and made a point to engage him at church events while he was still able too attend. You always knew where you stood with Chuck. We will certainly miss him. Blessings and condolences to his family and all who loved him and called him friend.
