Dr. Satish C. Khera
1944 - 2018
Condolences
I met Dr Satish in 2016 through a family friend in Ahmedabad, just after I completed my MDS. He was impressed with my work and recommended me to Dr Julie, Prof in Prosthodontics, IOWA University, although I could not reach there because they didn't approve Dr. Satish's request. BUT HE CREATED A LONG LASTING IMPACT IN THOSE COUPLE OF MEETINGS. I still remember him in my practice when I look back at happy positive and encouraging moments. He touched me by the way he motivated me in such a competitive world, the everlasting smile he left for us to remember and lesson to inspire and providing helping hands to younger ones. I wish I could recreate a part of his motivating aura in my profession and life... today in 2022 - my memories of him are as fresh as yesterday
thank you Dr. Satish....May you rest in peace and bless all younger ones.
Neera and family,
Our sincere condolences. I did not know that Satish had been ill. So it was a surprise to read about his death in the paper. I knew Satish from when he first came to the University of Iowa as a graduate student in Fixed/Removable Prosthodontics. He had a great career at the College of Dentistry and taught many students. Satish always had a smile to share with everyone. He will be missed.
My sincere sympathy to Neera and family at this time of Dr. Khera's death. We worked together in the 1970s to develop and implement the operative dentistry curriculum for the expanded function dental hygiene project. He was very dedicated to the project and to the students. The students loved him and honored him with an Instructor of the Year Award. I enjoyed knowing and working with him. His love for his family, his profession and his students made him an endearing person and joy to be around.
Dear Neera and family,
My sincere condolences on the loss of Satish. I felt myself fortunate to have known him and to be able to work with him over the past forty plus years. He contributed much to the College of Dentistry and to dentistry in general. I am glad that I had a little time to spend with him over the past month and to bring back positive memories of the past.
Anytime I can be of help to you having just gone through this myself, please feel free to call.
All the best,
Jerry
Satish was like a brother to me and I am sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to Neera and the rest of the family, I know it has been very hard. I have heard that one is remembered not for the things one does, but for the kindness given. However Satish combined both things--in his mentoring of students he gave much kindness, and he will be remembered thus by all. I miss him already. Richo
I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Khera's passing. I enjoyed working with him for many years in the College of Dentistry. His sense of humor helped make our work fun. He will be missed. My condolences to the Khera family.
I am so sorry to hear that Satish has passed. He was a kind and gentle man and he will be missed. My heart goes out to his family. Rest in Peace.

Dr. Khera was the professor who interviewed me during my application to dental school, and later one of my dental school faculty. He had a passion for dentistry, teaching, and having a good laugh with faculty and students. I’m so sad to hear of his passing, and wish his family and friends my sympathies during this time. He will be missed.
I enjoyed working with Dr. Khera throughout our careers (for many years) in the College of Dentistry. I am so sorry to hear about his passing. My sincerest sympathy to the family.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of this wonderful man. He has been a teacher, mentor and friend throughout my professional career.
After retiring from 30 years of family practice, I have enjoyed getting reacquainted with Dr. Khera during our time together in the Family Dentistry clinic. We asked dental questions of each other, ate lunch together and just generally enjoyed our friendship. During the past four years, I learned that he was a man with great love for his family, his profession and teaching.
He certainly displayed remarkable courage and optimism during his illness. When I saw him in the clinic last winter, he confidently told me that he'd be back soon. Dr. Khera was a professional of great talent who loved to share his gift with students. I am honored to say I was one of those lucky students.
Keith and Nancy Thayer send their very heartfelt condolences. Their son and daughter-in-law (Brad and Diane) also wish to convey their sympathies on the passing of Satish, a very fine man.
Satish and his family were wonderful neighbors. We missed him when you moved to the suburbs. It seems like just yesterday when I felt a tap on my shoulder and there was Satish. No one since your move was very much part of Estron St. Two years and gone!!! My sympathies and sorrow to you the family. Jerry
Neera, We are so happy to have spent time with your wonderful husband. He always cheered us up with his wise-cracks, insights and interest in our lives. Bless you for your care of him these last months.
Dear Neera,
Frank and I send our deepest condolences. Satish was a bright star in the neighborhood with his warm and funny personality. We will both miss him. Please call on us whenever you need anything, even if it is just someone to spend some quiet time with you. We send our love.
Dr.Khera interviewed me for Dental School and was my teacher. He made me smile and he always liked to tease me about going to Iowa State for undergrad .
He will be missed !
Deepest sympathy to Dr.Khera’s family
A great mentor. I appreciated his relaxed demeanor and calming presence as I 'learned' my way through sophomore operative dentistry. Class 1990
Our Heartfelt Condolences to his family and may his soul rest in peace.
I had the pleasure of having Satish as both my teacher and my colleague. He was a dedicated teacher and a really fun person! We spent time together on the Admissions Committee, and in that time I felt that I really connected with Satish. He had a great sense of humor and he will really be missed. My deepest sympathies to his family.
Satish was a wonderful friend to both Prem Singh and I. I had the pleasure of working with Satish in Kala Mandali at the University of Iowa, where we brought in well known Indian and Pakistani musicians and dance groups to the Iowa community. It was a wonderful time...we will miss him greatly...his engaging smile and laughter.
We will miss our dear friend Satish. Our heartfelt condolences for Neera and daughters.
We are saddened by the loss of Satish. I (Tom) had the pleasure of working with him for 28 years, with my office right next to his for the bulk of those years. He had to reprimand me, justly so, from time to time for my tardiness in getting back to the Sophomore Clinic, when I went for a cup of coffee! Overall, those were good years and we guided the students as a team. I (Tom) am sorry I didn't get to see much of Satish in his last years. Satish was a kind and compassionate man and was well liked by all at the College of Dentistry. We wish peace for Satish's family in this time of loss. Tom and Vivian
We were truly saddened to learn of Satish's passing. The world is a sadder place for his loss. I met Satish shortly after I came to the University of Iowa in 1987. Satish was both serious and funny. He cared about his students and the College, was a great colleague and friend. He was always willing to help if I had a question or suggestion. It is hard to imagine that he is no longer with us. The thing to remember is that he made a difference. He had an impact on the future, and in that sense he is not truly gone. Our condolences and sympathy to the family and friends.

Dr. Khera will be greatly missed by all of us here at the College and those you have graduated and retired. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
Dr. Khera made me smile often through the years. We enjoyed talking about our children. He was friendly and kind.
We celebrated cinco de mayo last year at the same restaurant and had good conversation with his lovely wife too. May God bless the entire family as we remember you in our prayers.

Satish was a colleague and friend. He had a great smile that matched his caring, compassionate care for all his patients. He was a valuable member of the College of Dentistry and will be greatly missed!
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
So sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Khera. He was the kind of teacher/mentor who cared about your wellness as a student. He made a lasting impression on me that I will forever be grateful. He is a salt of the earth type of guy that will be greatly missed by many.
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Khera. We were "hallway buddies" for many years at the College. He ALWAYS brought a smile to my face, made me laugh, and things were always a little brighter in his presence. My deepest condolences to his family.
