Obituary of Mary Ann Pedde
Mary Ann Pedde went to be with the Lord early Friday morning, July 6 in Ann Arbor Michigan while with her family, following a nine-year battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born on October 2, 1945 in Atlanta Georgia to John A. and Jessie Beatrice (Ward) Black, who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Auburn University and Georgia State University. She married Dennis Pedde on August 11, 1979 in Chicago, and is survived by him, daughter Meredith, son-in-law Gabriel Ehrlich, and grand-daughter Beatrice.
She was a partner in church ministry with her husband and spent the last 20 years of her life as a legal advocate for the Domestic Violence Intervention Program. She received the Pat Meyer Vision Award in 2009 for her work with victims of DV, and also was a speaker at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in March 2013.
A memorial and columbarium service will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 3:30pm, at First Presbyterian Church of Iowa City at 2701 Rochester Avenue; Dr. Rev. Samuel Massey, officiating.
