We are very saddened with the news of Anne's passing, but heartened to know it was peaceful and full of love.

We knew Anne and Gene through the Siouxland Y, where she was always a joy to talk with - always positive, insightful and uplifting. The Norm Waitt Sr YMCA family will feel a void.

I'm sorry to hear of Anne's passing. She and I served together on the Siouxland Y Board for several years, culminating in building a new one in 2007. Anne was incisive and caring at the same time. She stayed on past her term of service to see the project through. She told us all what she thought about things, while still caring about our feelings when we had disagreements. I thought Anne was selfless and bright and funny. I'm glad we were friends and will remember her tough questions as well as her smile. I will, along with everyone whose knew her, miss her generous spirit, her smarts and her dedication to others. She left the world better than she found it.

Kim and I would like to offer our condolences to you and your family. Anne was a wonderful person and friend. We often talk of the Friday night dinners we shared with both of you. We fondly remember those times and will continue to. Again we offer our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Anne was a fun and kind gal and we shared the love of books. Her birthday is the day after mine. Sioux City has missed her since she and Gene moved to Iowa City.

Many times during the week before Anne died, when I thought of her, the words to the 23rd Psalm came to my mind. The words in that Psalm summed up, in my mind, how Anne lived her life, particularly in these last months. Seldom have I ever experienced a person whose faith was reflected so clearly in the way she lived-- and died. Her friendship and her love and her faith surrounded her family and her friends--not by what she said, but what she WAS. I count my blessings for having known her and will miss her every day. What a role model she was to us all!!

Anne to us,products of the fifties, was affectionately known as SALLY SORORITY! WE WILL MISS HER PRESENCE AT SATURDAY MORNING BREAKFASTS, THE WAVE AT WOMEN'S BB GAMES, and the friendship she brought to our lives. Her family and friends will rally around Gene as will we.
