Obituary of Martin A. Raye

Martin Alan Raye, 66, of Coralville, passed away last week of natural causes.

Martin was born in Des Moines to Ronald and Clara Raye.  He was a 1969 graduate of Valley High School and carried on his education at Iowa State University with a degree in Journalism. He then attended Drake Law School for two years but decided to take a different path. He lived in Iowa City for the last 38 years and had been a software developer at Noel-Levitz.

Martin was a gentle loving person who enjoyed family gatherings in Des Moines.  He treasured his time with his Iowa City family of friends and valued his association with his co-workers.  He was a prolific reader, a writer in his later years, an avid Iowa State fan and the go-to guy for trivia questions.

He is survived bu his sisters, Carol Raye, Diana Hanisch and Linda Harvey (Tom); sister-in-law, Susan Raye; a niece, four nephews and their families.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Michael Raye.

A gathering to celebrate Martin’s life will be held Sunday, February 25th from 1-3 pm at the Gay & Ciha Funeral Service in Iowa City.  Online condolences may be shared with his family at www.gayandciha.com.
