Obituary of Rev. Karen (Crow) Blankenship

Rev. Karen (Crow) Blankenship, 60, died February 14, 2018, at home in West Henrietta, NY.

Visitation will be held at Calvary Community Church in Henrietta, NY, on Sunday, Feb. 18, from 4-6:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service on Monday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. An additional service will take place at the Iowa City Church of the Nazarene in Iowa City, IA on Friday, Feb. 23 with visitation at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City, IA.

She was born in 1957 in Iowa City to Lynn and Ruth Crow. She graduated from Iowa City High in 1976. She received a B.A. degree from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 1979 and earned an M.A. degree from Wheaton College in 1982. She met her future husband, Mark Blankenship, while both were attending Nazarene Theological Seminary. They were married in Iowa City in 1983.

The Church of the Nazarene ordained her to the order of Deacon in 1993 and the order of Elder in 2014.

Rev. Blankenship is survived by her husband, Mark; parents, Lynn and Ruth Crow; brother and his spouse, Steven and Jennifer Crow, and their son, Clayton; 2 sons and their spouses, Peter and Rachel Blankenship, Michael and Shannon Blankenship; and 2 grandchildren.
