A time for family and friends to gather to remember, share and celebrate Roger’s life will be held from 4 to 7 pm Friday, February 16, 2018, at the Oxford American Legion with Military Honors provided at 7pm.  In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his memory.

Roger Dale Wright was born August 21, 1954, in Grinnell, Iowa the son of Virgil Wright and Ethel (Revell) Taylor.  Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army.  He returned from service and moved to the Iowa City area in 1976, here he has always been in the carpenter /construction field as a master craftsman.  He could and would be able to build, fix or whatever it took to make something better for anyone. He met Mary Patterson many years ago, but they finally decided to marry on July 18, 2008 at Kent Park near their home.  Roger never met a stranger, the first thing many noticed about Roger was his beautiful blue eyes, then his smile and even his hair to some!  He was proud of his military service, was a member of the Oxford American Legion, enjoyed riding his Harley with Mary and others, but most of all he loved his family and friends, and being Grandpa to Ellie Grace, the sparkle in those blue eyes of his!

His family includes his wife, Mary; daughter and her husband, Emma and Matthew Eldeen; granddaughter, Ellie Grace Eldeen; step-children, Rebecca Holderness, Kyle Holderness and his wife, Emily; step-grandson, Austin Holderness; and Roger’s brother, Leon Wright and his wife, Connie; and many nieces and nephews.   Roger was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and his wife, Sheldon and Ann Wright.
