Obituary of Bonita L. Long

Bonita Lee Long, 80, of Iowa City, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 29, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Gay & Ciha Funeral Service in Iowa City where a time of visitation will take place one hour prior.  Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City.  Online condolences may be shared with her family at www.gayandciha.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bonnie’s name to Camp Courageous of Iowa.

Bonita was born near Stanley Iowa on April 29, 1937; daughter of Robert and Gertrude (Rickels) Schoon. On March 17, 1962 she was united in marriage to James L. Long, in Las Vegas, Nevada.  She worked at Engineered Electronics of Santa Anna, California and then Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, Iowa until they began a family, at which time she dedicated her time and life to providing for and raising their three children, Trent, Wade and Traci.  They resided in Anamosa for 40 years, until moving to Iowa City in 2014.  A few years later, in May of 2016, James passed away.

Her family includes her children Trent, Wade and Traci; sister, Gloria Badding (Calvin) of Centertown, Missouri as well as her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
