Obituary of Joseph W. Filloon

Joseph “JoJo” W. Filloon, 54, of Oxford, died Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A gathering for family and friends will be held from 4 to 7pm Saturday, January 27th, at the Oxford American Legion to remember, share and support Joe’s memory.  Burial will be held at a later date at the Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.  In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established towards the Oxford American Legion in Joe’s memory.  To share a thought, memory or condolence please go to the funeral home website @ www.gayandciha.com.

Joseph William Filloon was born February 25, 1963 in Spencer, Iowa the son of Bill and Kathleen “Kay” (Ford) Filloon.  He left Spencer and ended up in the Iowa City area during the mid 1980’s.  Here he worked for a number of years at the Hawkeye Truck Stop in Coralville.  Since then he has done various jobs in the area, eventually moving to Oxford where he has enjoyed small town living.  Joe was an Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed gardening, watching and feeding the birds, and spending time with his friends and family and most of all time with his dog, “Bones!”

 

His family includes six sisters, Anne Johnson ((Jan) of Walford, Jane Stanton of St. Charles, IL, Carol Wilkens (Roger) of Fulton, IL, Lynn Erwin (Todd) of Morton, IL, Lori Streb (Mike) of Iowa City, and Amy Smith (Brad) of Spencer; many nieces and nephews and of course Joe’s best friend, his dog, Bones.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
