Obituary of Liness Littrell

Liness Littrell 86 of North Liberty passed away on Wednesday July 26, 2017 at home with his family by his side.

He was born February 4, 1931, in Iowa City the son of Ralph and Arlene Gruwell Littrell. After graduating from City High he attended the University of Iowa for 2 years and then enlisted in the United States Navy for 4 years during the Korean War. Following his service he owned and operated Swisher Farm Supply for over 40 years. He was a 61 year member of the Swisher American Legion Post # 671 and a past Post Commander.

Liness is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Randy ( Darlene DeLong), Karen (Tim) Hughes, Dan, Chuck ( Patricia Chalupsky) and Kris (Jeff) Schiltz. Known as Papa to his 5 Grandchildren, Jake, Nick and Sean Hughes and Dillon and Sydney Schiltz. A sister, Lillian Rummelhart and brother-in-law, Ken (Jan) Matyk and special friends John and Judy Schiltz.

There will be no visitation. A private family burial with military rites will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be sent to the family for Iowa City Hospice or the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center.
