Obituary of Richard L. DeBrie
Richard “Dick” DeBrie passed away, Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
A visitation will be held from 4-7 pm, Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Graveside Services will be held at 10 am, Thursday, at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. Dick was born August 14, 1932, to Helen (Michel) and Lonnie DeBrie, in Hills, IA. He graduated from Iowa City High School in 1949, and a week after graduation he went to work for Moore Business Forms. While working there, he attended the University of Iowa. In 1951, he joined the Navy, and in 1955 was discharged. Upon his return to Moore Business Forms, he met and married his wife, Donna (Petersen) DeBrie in 1956. Dick retired as plant manager in 1991.
He enjoyed bowling, golf and especially time at his home on Leach Lake, Minnesota, fishing, boating and spending time with family and friends. Dick and Donna built Hi Point Golf Course with his in-laws, Hank and Jeneta Petersen.
He is survived by his wife, a brother, John DeBrie, and his wife, Ann; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Mangold, and Tootie Wood; ten nieces and nephews; and his beloved wiener dog, Dixie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers-in-law.
