Obituary of VirJean N. Peffer

VirJean Peffer, 93, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 13, 2017. VirJean was born August 30, 1923, in Alta, Iowa; daughter of William and Buena Peterson. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a BS in commerce and worked for the University 26 years until her retirement in 1985. She was married to William (Bill) Peffer on November 25, 1946 in Iowa City. VirJean and Bill were inseparable and recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. Over the years, they have resided in North Liberty, Iowa City, McAllen, Texas and more recently in Cedar Rapids. In addition to her husband, VirJean is survived by three children, Barbara Moeller (Del) of West Point, Iowa; Katherine Schimelpfening (Bobby) of Goodyear, Arizona; and Thomas Peffer (Carroll) of Cedar Rapids, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will take place in the future.
