Obituary of Marjorie A. Klink

Marjorie A."Marj" Klink, 77, of Iowa City, formerly of West Branch and Manchester passed away peacefully after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in West Branch. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Friday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial donations to the Susan G. Marjorie was born October 16, 1935, near West Union, Iowa the daughter of Gordon and Bernice (Older) Hackett. She graduated from Fayette High School. She married Kenneth Klink of Maynard, Iowa, on September 12, 1954, at the United Methodist Church in Fayette, Iowa. The couple had lived in Maynard, Colorado Springs, CO; Arlington, IA; River Falls, WI; Manchester, IA; and Denver, CO before moving to West Branch eight years ago to be close to their grandkids. This past December, they moved to Walden Place in Iowa City. For nearly 20 years "Mommy Marj" provided child care to many families in the communities they had lived. She dearly loved the little ones she cared for, but also nurtured their families, having a lifetime of treasured friends! Along with involvement in her kids' many activities and her love for sewing & cooking, Marj was always very active in the Methodist Church wherever they lived. She recently received yet another United Methodist Women's Mission Recognition Pin. Her family was the joy of her life. They include her husband, Kenneth; daughter, Kathi Anderson and her husband, Mike of Iowa City; son, Monte Klink of Arlington, IA; three grandchildren, Samantha, Garth and Mateo Anderson, who Nanny simply adored; and her brother, Bob Hackett and his wife, Fran of Salem, IA. Many nieces and nephews and their families also celebrate her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Dale and Roy Hackett, and her sister, Dorothy Crookshank. The family would like to extend their most heartfelt thanks to so many friends and family for all of their incredible support, love and prayers.
