Condolences
you will be missed much. By Tank. Thanks goes to his family for sharing him with us in the Army especially Dessert Strom.
to the bryant family,
I just heard that Tank passed away, and I'am sorry for your loss. I was 19 when i meet tank, when i joined the 209th, being part of the 3rd herd is one of my favorite experiences in my career. I enjoyed learning from tank, which i used in my career in the IANG. He will be missed by all the soldiers that he helped in through his career, and the people he touched. Again I am very sorry for your loss.
I appreciated "Tanks" work with American Legion Iowa Hawkeye Boys State. He will be greatly missed, and appreciated. Thank you
Debbie & Family - it was my great fortune to meet and know "Tank" during my time as the 109th Medical Battalion Commander - it was obvious from our 1st meeting that he was someone special - the respect he clearly had with all of the soldiers was clearly evident and as I learned in the next few years was deserved and obviously earned -- "Tank" was a great soldier - and an even better person - it was my honor to serve with him, but most of all to know him as a friend - my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.....sincerely, tom
I first met Tank in the summer of 1973. I had just graduated from IMA and was assigned as a newly minted second lieutenant in the 209th. From that time on I had the privilege of serving with this cheerful, hard working, dedicated, loyal and positive man. Our relationship was pretty much limited to shared experiences in the military, but in the years that followed, I always knew that whatever the setting, in the Armory, in overnight field training weekends, at the posts where we served for AT and finally in the face of all the uncertainties of war during Desert Shield and Storm, I couldn't have had a more faithful and capable soldier standing next to me than him. Fall out, Tank. Your job is done. All missions accomplished.
Richard worked with me for many years in representing the employees of the Johnson County Secondary Roads Department. He served in several different union offices including bargaining team and union steward. I believe Richard's concern about the well being of others is what prompted him to serve in what are often difficult positions. He demonstrated a real commitment to defending peoples' rights, and seeing that they are treated fairly. I am glad we ran into each other the last couple years after he retired from Roads, and enjoyed catching up with him. I will miss those opportunities. I am thankful that I knew him and had his support. He was a good man.
Richard was a gem, He will be missed by many, Our thoughts and prayers to his family. This is a great loss to the community. He will be forever remembered. Steve and Gina Henkleman8gtlc
"Tank" you were always there for the soldiers and you always put them ahead of yourself. You made being in AMEDD fun and meaningful. You and Deb always came through for our unit picnics and helped keep moral at an all time high!!! You always had a smile. Blessings to you and your family
I had the privilage of working with "Tank" at the military academy for a number of years. He was a true soldier and leader of his people. He had the respect of all. You have my deepest sympathy and my prayers are with your family. Ed Gabbard, CSM (ret)
Tank was a senior NCO to be emulated by all senior leaders, officer and non-commissioned officer alike. He took care of his troops and still got the mission accomplished. When I think of great first-sergeants he is the only one who comes to mind. Thank you Tank for showing me and countless others what it means to serve.
We just heard of Richard's passing and want to extend our deepest sympathy to the entire Bryant family.
Dan (Bear) and Anne Reisen
T the Bryant family .. I just heard of Richards passing and am sorry I can't make it up there to say good bye to someone I always considered a friend. I was only a year ahead of Richard in grade school, we were in 4-H together, we worked together for the county, and were in the National Guard together and no matter what happened Richard always treated me like a friend .. he will be missed
I know he will truely be miss by many. One of the best people I was privliged to know. My heart and prayers are with all of the family.
Deb and the Bryant family, Richard (tank) will truly be missed. His fun loving spirit could always make you smile. I will always have good memories from all the years I knew him.
I just heard of Tank's passing and my heart is sad but heaven just acquired a beautiful angel. I only had the pleasure of knowing him for a few short years but I learned so much from him about life and the love he had for his family and fellow veterans. He gave all of himself all the time and always had a beautiful smile on his face. He will always be with me at Boys State in spirit and in my heart. I wish the family well and wish I could be there to pay tribute to this great man but circumstances will not let me be there. May God bless you all and know that he will never be forgotten at the Boys State Medic Station.
My condolences go out to Major Dena Dietzler and the entire Bryant family. I did not have the honor of working with Tank but I've certainly heard of him and his unselfish service. A huge loss to the 209th, AMEDD and the greater community. LT Kelly Nissen
Deb and family,
Just a note to say how sorry I was to hear about Richard's death. He was a special person and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. I can not think of him any way except with a smile on his face. He truly love all of you!
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Dear Bryant Family,
Deb,
Although I only met Richard a few times, I know he was a great man, after all, he brought Pizza to us in Moh's!!! I am so sorry for your loss and my heart aches for you and your family. Following the loss of my father, I thought the hurt would never go away, but if you keep the memories close and family and friends around, it gets better with time.
I am thinking of you all!
Leesa
Dear Debbie & family:
You are in my thoughts & prayers as you suffer through this heartbreaking time. Although it's difficult to see past the sadness, be reassured that all the wonderful memories will be what comforts and sustains you tomorrow.
Richard's in a better place right now than he's ever been before.
His pain is gone; he's now at rest; nothing troubles him anymore.
It's you who feels the burden of the sadness and the grief.
You have to cry, to mourn the loss, before you get relief.
Just know you'll reconnect with him at the end of your life's road.
You'll see his smiling face again when you release your earthly load.
Sincerest Sympathy,
Cyndi
I knew Tank from the IANG. He was a great leader and person.

Deb and Family,
What a great man, he will be missed. I think of when I transferred to the Guard, Tank was the one who helped me with the transition. Always willing to help, always put the soldier first. God Bless him, may he have eternal rest.
JoAnne,
Our sympathy to the Bryant family. Tank's gift of volunteerism set him apart, and the way he went about it made a real difference in many of us, our country and our community. While my time in the 209th was a short 6 years, the leadership and life lessons(with some fun sprinkled in) learned from Tank, Alberhasky, Neely and Freese remain with me. There is no doubt I am better for having known someone with his class, honor and dignity. Our prayers are with your family. Mark and Kathy Ogden
To Deb and Family. My deepest sympathy for the loss of a great man like "Tank". He was very instrumental in affecting my life and career with the National Guard during my 25 years of service. His number one priority was always to take care of his troops, and he did it in an outstanding manner. He was a person who always put others first before himself, and this is a trait I will never forget. He touched the lives of so many people, and I feel blessed to have been one of them. He will never be forgotten for the man that he was, I will always cherish the times we had together in the National Guard. He was the greatest First Sergeant there ever was. He will; be greatly missed.
Dear Debbie and all the Bryant family,
I have no words except I am very sorry for your loss. Richard was always so upbeat, with a ready smile for everyone. I am so glad I got to see him a couple of years ago at the class reunion at the Cosgrove Institute. May he rest in peace.

Linda Goss

Deb and family, we do not have the right words to express how sad we are and how much Richard will be missed. He was always larger than life and the laughter we shared over the years will never leave our hearts. The world is diminished at his passing, but was more than enriched by his living. Randy and Joan
I will deeply miss you Tank
Dear Deb & Family our deepest sympathy to you all at this difficult time. Richard was such a giving & caring person . I have so many memories of our times in school & later our childrens time as we all were so involved at CCA atheletics. But most of all his dedication to family & our country was second to none. You are all in our thoughts & prayers.
We are sorry to hear about Richard's passing, he will be missed. I had served with Richard for 22 years in the Iowa National Guard 209th Medical Unit and have great memories of us serving together. All the camps and weekend drills wouldn't have been the same without him. He was truly a great guy all around, couldn't have asked for a better person. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family during this time of sorrow.
I was so sorry to hear of Richard's passing. He will surely be missed at the Tiffin Church auction as well as by his family and friends. I have never seen him w/o a smile no matter what he was going thru. I am sure he made life fun for Debbie and family. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this time and in the future. Take care and know that he is waiting for you in heaven.
I have not seen Richard since we all graduated High School. Richard was a significant part of the Class of '71. He was a classmate of mine since Kindergarten in Cosgrove. Richard was unpretentious, honest, sweet and fun. He had a good heart and was genuine.
Thank-you Richard for honoring our Country and our Community.
You've lead a good life and have touched many individuals. It's sad to know your gone.
My deepest sympathy to Richard's family and Loved ones,

Richard was someone that knew how to make a person feel warm and loved as a friend. His smile and kindness was so genuine. He will be missed by our family. The Lord blessed us to have known him. Love and warm hugs to you, Deb, and your family.
I will miss "Tank." He was a great soldier, patriot and family man. He led by example and always looked out for other people. He has impacted many people in a positive manner, more than he ever knew. I really appreciated him coming over from Iowa City to Camp Dodge to help keep me from making an even bigger fool of myself than I would have otherwise. I loved working with him in our unit and working for the USA, Iowa and our soldier-family.
God rest and enjoy peace forever.
As a new officer in the Guard with many questions I always found Tank willing to help with a cheerful smile and good answers. His concern was always for his soldiers and making things better for them. I miss him.

From myself and the thousands of "Boys Staters" that you so selfishly
made such a positive influence, we say THANKYOU, and you will be greatly missed. You were one of the most positive, friendly, and helpful persons I have ever known. May the sorrow of your family be consoled by the spirit of your giving life.
Tank was one of a kind! I got to know Tank at Hawkeye Boys State. The thing I remember best about him, besides his great stories, was his desire to serve. He was always looking for ways to make things go better, to smooth out "bumps in the road" for others, and to help make American Legion Hawkeye Boys State the best possible program anywhere. His dedication and generosity of time and effort will long be remembered. I feel fortunate to have known him and will try to emulate his attitude and behaviors. He will be missed!
Please accept my condolences and prayers for Tank's passing. I got to know him when we worked together at the American Legion Hawkeye Boys State at Camp Dodge. He was always willing to help anybody, and always was cordial and friendly with everyone. He was always a person whom I respected and admired. Please know that he will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Peace, Brad, Gretchen and Reiner Muhlenbruck
Richard was my ex father-in-law. I had the privilege of being part of his family for 11 great years. He was a simple yet exemplary man who loved his family and Country. He always kept the family smiling and entertained with his numerous stories and anecdotes. Most importantly he was a great husband to Debbie, an involved dad to Dessie, Dena, Rex and Bart, and a tender loving grandpa to his grand kids. He will be missed by all still here, and welcomed by many who have gone before him. My deepest sympathy and love to his family as they grieve.
