Baxter L. Freese

Condolences
Dear Mary and family: I am Francisco Nazar, 3rd son of Pedro and Mercedes from Argentina. Just heard the news and wanted to send you our warm thoughts and memories that you and Baxter managed to print in our hearts and minds when in 1975 you visited our family ranch in Colon (Buenos Aires state). I was 9 years old then and I always remembered Baxters unique way of relating to people and embracing life. Thank you, Mary, for building a wonderful life adventure with Baxter and for building such a great family which is doubtless the best legacy in this world. And thank you again for briefly sharing that special gift years ago that stays alive in our memories when we remember you and Baxter. Hope and blessings to you all miles away but close enough in our hearts to reach you! Francisco.
Jane,
So sorry to hear of your father's passing.
"We get far in life on our Father's love, even further in remembering him."

Mary and Family
On many occasions when I traveled to Des Moines or Washington D.C. with Agricultural Groups, people would tell me how much they respected Baxter.
Enjoyed the peice on Baxter in the Book on Washington County WW2 Vets.
On the lighter side, it was always a good laugh to hear Kay Statler and Baxter talk about the Bull they jointly owned in Texas.
Our prayers are with you.
Keith Hora
Jim, I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
Mary and family...I have been thinking of all of you and want to send my condolences. The loss of a loved one is never easy. Baxter had a long, accomplished life and he will be missed by many. May the love of family and friends help you through this difficult time. Laura Foster Vogel
To Baxter's family,
I had the privilege of working with Baxter at the Iowa Beef Industry Council and with Mary through the Iowa CattleWomen. Both were leaders in the Iowa beef industry. Baxter was a visonary when it came to the potential international markets for beef. The Beef Council still has a membership in USMEF and consider Baxter to be instrumental in getting USMEF started. Our beef industry (and all of agriculture) was strengthened by his leadership. Thanks for sharing him!
Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

We wanted to take a moment to let you know you are in our thoughts and prayers during your time of loss.
Jim and family, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Baxter. As a kid I remember him as always being a tall, strong man. Prayers to you and your family.... Sue Koshatka Henderson
Dear Anne and Family,
Sorry to hear of Baxter's passing. What an accomplished man! He has left quite a legacy of which I am sure you are all proud. I only met Baxter on a couple of occasions and found him to be a very gregarious and fun loving person. My sympathy to all of you at this time of loss. Love you Anne!
Take care,
Ellen Hill
We lost a very good friend. We are so grateful to have known Baxter. We also look forward to the friendship with the family to keep. Wish you much strength and confidence.
Your Swiss-family Walter and Theresa with children.
We wish to extend our sincere sympathy to you, Mary and all of your family. We have so enjoyed your friendship thru two other dear friends, Bob and Elnora. You were always such gracious hosts and such fun to be with. We treasure all the fun times we had.

Baxter and I grew up in the Clarence, Iowa area. However, our age difference kept us from being childhood friends. Fortunately, a few years ago I discovered that Baxter and Mary lived here in Iowa City. Baxter and I quickly became friends, and It's a friendship I'll always treasure.
Mary and Family,
I hold you in sisterly love at the recent lose of Baxter. Fond memories of Baxter taking wonderful photos at several of our PEO gatherings.
With love and sympathy,
Bonnie Penno
Mary and I wish to extend our deepest sympathies to all the Freeses. We have such great memories of Bax. He was truly a joy to know.
We are so sorry to hear of your loss of Baxter. We have many memories as neighbors and friends and also of attending Mid-Prairie schools with his children.
We last heard from Baxter last year following my father's death (Richard Huber). His letter to our family touched all of our hearts. The connections continue as our daughter, Terri Adam, is currently the teacher of Anne's 5th grade son.
