Obituary of Robert F. Briceland

Robert F. Briceland, 85, of Lutsen, MN, died, Sunday, December 23, 2012, in Duluth, MN. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2012, at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with burial following at Memory Gardens Cemetery where Military Honors will be rendered. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Saturday. Bob was born September 6, 1927; son of Harald and Bernice (Kier) Briceland in Iowa City, IA. He was united in marriage to Mary "Penny" Penepacker on September 10, 1950, in Iowa City. Bob was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion, retiring from the Army in 1968 after 20 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and woodworking. Bob truly loved the outdoors and nature, which led him to Tait Lake in the North Country. His family includes his wife of 62 years, Penny; sons, Hal of Wichita, KS, Tom (Jody) of Maize, KS, and Mark (Suzanne) of Cedar Rapids, IA; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Phyllis Bradley and brother, Donald Briceland.
