I met Ebbie while working at the American Legion in Iowa City. He became one of my favorites and I felt the same from him. Doris called me when he passed and asked me to design his casket piece. (I was in school for floral design while I worked there and had graduated.) He loved red roses and that is what I designed for him. Doris was such an awesome soul! I greatly regret not keeping in touch the last few years. I feel a little better that they are together again. She missed him and he adored her. God speed.

I have fond memories of Doris..and Ed and their beautiful black dog ..the time flies...but the picture of them is in my mind.

Tom, we are so very sorry. The pix of your mother was beautiful! What smiling eyes and warm smile -- she sounded like an interesting person.

At a difficult time like this, it's good to cling to those fond memories. We are at that age, aren't we .. many of our older generation are passing the baton to us. My parents died 3 months apart nearly 10 years ago. One of the things that hit me hard was the fact that now it was my turn to be the "older generation".

It's wonderful to have family and loved ones to lean on.

Very sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. Just last month my grandmother, Doris' sister, Dorthea would ask me what day it is and remind me that her sister's birthday was October 2nd, so I know she has never been far from Grandma's thoughts. Thinking of all of you.

Kathy --you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. You all have my deepest sympathy. I did not know your Mom by i can tell from the sweet smile and the sparkle in her eyes in the picture. That she was a loving caring lady. Also i see she and your Dad were in Washington owa for a time. I grew up in Washington before moving to Iowa Cty (small world huh Kathy).
