Obituary of Calyonda DaLawn Heller

Calyonda D. Heller, 38 or North Liberty died Sunday, September 23, 2012. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Funeral services and burial will be next week in Flint, Michigan. A memorial fund has been established in her memory. Calyonda DaLawn Abdullah was born December 26, 1973 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Calvin Sawyer and Hyatt Blackman. Growing up in Flint she graduated from high school there and then came to the University of Iowa where she received her degree in Leisure Science. She was united in marriage to Rovon P. Heller on August 13, 1993 in Flint. The couple have resided in Iowa City area for nearly 20 years now. She was employed by Walmart as an Vison Center Associate. Cal loved life, her contagious smile, laugh and always something good to say was she is. She enjoyed dancing, going to the casino, but most of all whether it was at home, with her friends, or at work, she simply loved helping others out. Her family includes her husband, Rovon; daughter, Cianca Heller; mother, Hyatt Collins; and siblings, Tonya (Donneill) Chin-Kee-Fatt, Ahmad Abdullah, Adella Abdullah, Adell Bailey, Sade Collins, Sa-Cre Collins, Satara Sawyer and david Sawyer; and two of her dearest friends in this world, Royce Ann and Anthony Porter, Laurie Jones, LaShaunda, and James and Anna Fredieu.
