Roger L. Fisher
1940 - 2012
Condolences
I was very sorry to hear of Roger's death. He was the Assistant Pastor at Gloria Dei when my, now deceased, husband and I first started attending Gloria Dei in the 70's. He was an important part of that time of our lives 1973-1981.
Linda,
Sorry to hear of Roger's passing recently.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Linda,
I am sorry to learn of the loss of Roger. I always enjoyed talking with him about a variety of things.
Linda-May you find peace know thing Roger is finally at peace. We never know when that time will come but when it does, it was the Lords way of calling them home. Thank you for all the love and support that you have given my family, especially my mom and I hope we can continue to be there for you as well.
I work at Legacy Gardens and I always enjoyed seeing Roger every morning. His smile and sense of humor always made my day. I enjoyed talking with Linda when she visited and always could not wait to tell her some of the things Roger did or said. I enjoyed seeing the cars that Roger had built and hearing the stories about him. He will be greatly missed. He was a great guy and Linda was very lucky to have him as a husband. Maybe now he will get to see the next Olympics from heaven- a dream he and Linda hoped to go to before he got sick. Roger again I will miss you and I hope you are well again in Gods hands.
I was surprised to read that Pastor Fisher was only at Gloria Dei for four years. It seems that I must have been especially lucky that those 4 years coincided with my most important growing-up years at church. He taught my Christian Crusaders class in 8th grade, and left me feeling grateful knowing that this kind and gentle man cared about me.
Hello Linda.... just a message this Thur evening to let you know that I am thinking of you. It's such a hard loss; I really liked Roger. I know that you must be going through a lot. I will call you at some point. Until then, know that my thoughts, & those of many others are directed your way. In peace & healing....
Linda, Jo's and my thoughts and prayers go out to you and yours. While I didn't know Roger as well as I would have liked, I always thought he and his gal were a perfect match. He was always smiling and extremely pleasant and I'm sure he'll brighten up even heaven.
Linda

Linda,
Dear Linda, Our thoughts are with you as we, too, mourn Roger's passing. He was a gentle person with whom I (gene) enjoyed making music and just conversing.
Sorry to hear about Roger's passing. You are correct. He was a friend to everyone that ever knew him. So kind and caring. We'll miss him.
I was so sorry to hear that Pastor Fisher passed away. He was an important part of my religious life at Gloria Dei when my family moved to Iowa. Such a nice, caring person, I will never forget him. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I was a young teenager when Pastor Fisher was assigned to Our Redeemer Church in West Liberty. I remember well the classes he taught and how he could hold a conversation with anyone. Through the years I had lost track of the two of you, not realizing you were still in the Iowa City area. Linda you have my sympathy and prayers. May God bless you in this time of sadness.
So sorry to hear of Roger's passing, Linda. The photo you have included here is just a perfect picture of him--always smiling and happy. Will look forward to learning when the memorial service will be in October.
