Obituary of Bennie J. Hendricks

Bennie (Ben) John Hendricks of Bonaparte, Iowa, passed away July 1, 2012, at the VA Hospital in Iowa City, after fighting a long battle with esophageal cancer. He was born July 15, 1942, in Tiffin, Iowa; son of Stanley and Myrtle Hendricks. Ben graduated from Bonaparte High School, served in the Air Force, and worked as a civilian contractor in Vietnam. He and his wife Rose owned and operated the Bonaparte Retreat Restaurant in Bonaparte for the past 42 years. Ben is survived by: his wife Rose; daughter, Tammy; son, Jim (Beth); four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters and a brother, Marye Kandzor, Edna Ramsey, and David Hendricks; and several nieces and nephews. As per Ben's wishes, he has been cremated. A memorial celebration will be held this autumn, October 21, 2012 at Lacey State Park. Ben will be truly missed by his family and many friends.
