Obituary of Ervin L. Gjovig

Ervin L. “Joe” Gjovig, 91, of Iowa City, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Briarwood Healthcare Center in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011 at River Community Church in Iowa City with a time for visitation from 11- 12 with a light meal at 12. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids following the services. Memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s name to River Community Church. Joe’s family includes his wife, Helen; son, Roger Gjovig; step-children, Roberta (Lawerance) Shaw, Marion, Beverly (Ray) Bryant, Iowa City, Janet Muench, Coralville, Marilyn (James) Dean Maquoketa, M. Sue (Lowell) Lutt, Omaha, NE, Melvin (Lynn) McMorris, Iowa City, Venita McMorris (Ken Nash) Beverly Hills, CA, Debra (Dell) Briggs, Iowa City; sister, Lydia (Robert) Emee, Jesup, as well as 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; Son, Russell Gjovig; two sisters and two brothers.
