Obituary of James L. Tyree

James L. Tyree, 70 of Hills died Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Jim's home in Hills located at 309 Washington Street. A memorial fund has been established in Jim's memory, and online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. James Loftin Tyree was born January 5, 1941, in Birmingham, AL, the son of Charles and Oni Leila (Loftin) Tyree. He attended schools in Birmingham, graduating from Woodlawn High School there. He moved with his family to this area in 1994, where he worked as a sales manager first for McGurk-Myers Chrysler in Coralville, and later at Chizak-Sayers Honda in Iowa City. His family includes his wife, Donna; sons, Chad Tyree and his wife, Becky and James Jayson "JJ" Tyree; grandchildren, Cae Lynne, Brea Lynne, Raven, Lilly, Landon, James, Carson, Tyler and Shelby; sister, Martha Jane Wood; and mother-in-law, Jan Hawks. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Charlie, and sister, Verna.
