He then went on to attend the University of Iowa. He served his country in two wars and in two different branches of the armed services, first the Army during WWII and later in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Oxford American Legion. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing; he was in his glory when he was on a fishing trip with family or friends. The other passion which ranked just under his love for family and friends was the Chicago Cubs, as he would say, “next year, just wait”
