Stephen Eugene Buckman
1946 - 2010
Condolences
I started working with Steve in the 80's on projects at the University. I will remember the way he answered his phone with a hearty "Buckman here". He also gets the award for most up to date phone message. "This is Steve Buckman and today is Wednesday and I will be in meetings from 8:24 to 9:36 and this afternoon from 2:14 to 3:43." I always knew when I could catch Steve.
Steve was always a fair and honest colleague , and we were fortunate to have worked as a team. He will be missed in the UI community.
I worked with Steve on projects at the UI from the time he went to work there. I have many flnd memories not just of the projects but of our personal relationship. He did everything he could to make all people around him successful. Steve was a first class guy that greeted me with warmth every time I saw him. I last saw him at a lunch and learn we put on at the UI and his last words to me were, "Charlie don't stay away so long next time, come see us." I will forever rember his last words and the sincerity with which he said it.
Dear Buckman Family,
We are so sorry that Steve had to leave this earth so soon. He was so excited about his marriage to Jan and always the proud dad and grandfather. We enjoyed revisiting with Steve in Texas a few years back and the cousins always had great stories about growing up together. Hope Aunt Eleanor and Mary are doing as well as possible with the loss of Stephen. It is a very difficult time for the whole family. We hold you all in our thoughts and prayers.
Much love, Mark and Sue
My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
Know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers.
In deepest sympathy, Bob and LeeAnn
You are all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I will always think of Steve with a warm smile and great sense of humor.
Your words, "Steve was a generous and patient man, a man that believed in family, a man of strong faith and conviction; who felt that he was given this life to serve his Lord" really sum up his whole life. I was shocked at his early passing. I count it a privilege to have known Steve.
I was so saddened to hear of Steve's passing. I worked with Steve on many projects at the UI before I retired. He was always a kind and professional colleague and had a mischievous sense of humor. My prayers for the family during this sad time.
Dear Jan,
Our hearts go out to you at this time of great loss and sadness. Just know that we are thinking of you each and every day and wishing you comfort and peace. Love, Stacey & Dave
