Obituary of Marie Colony
Marie A. Colony, 90 of Coralville died Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Windmill Manor Care Center in Coralville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 9, 2009, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Tiffin. Visitation will be from 3 to 7pm Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made in Marie's memory to Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin or Iowa City Hospice. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Marie A. Kasparek was born March 27, 1918, near Solon, Iowa the daughter of Wesley and Mary (Franta) Kasparek. She graduated from Tiffin High School in 1934. She was united in marriage to Walter Curry in 1934. Walter died in 1938. Marie married Virgil "Ted" Colony in 1944. Ted died in 1982. For over 40 years she worked as a seamstress for the University Of Iowa Hospitals, retiring in 1981. She and her husband Ted lived near Tiffin for many years. After Ted's death, she moved to Coralville. In June of 2005, she moved to Windmill Manor. She was a social member of C.S.A. Lodge. Her family includes, a step-son, John "Jack" Colony of Coralville; 4 nieces and nephews, Vivian Mougin (Frank) of Oxford, Larry Kasparek of North Liberty, Craig Kasparek of Florida, and Debra Kasparek of Des Moines; several great-nieces and nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, her daughter, Beverly Moore; step-son, Robert Colony; 2 brothers, Wesley and Alvin Kasparek; 2 sisters, Irma Meka, and Ruby Curry; and two nephews, Kenny Kasparek and Eldon Curry.
