Obituary of Franklin Pfeiffer

Franklin D. Pfeiffer, 66 of 1714 California Avenue, Iowa City died Friday at his home due to an extended illness. A funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Tuesday until the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Frank’s name. Online condolences can be made through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Frank the son of Robert and Nelle (Martin) Pfeiffer was born January 9, 1942, in Burlington, IA. On June 10, 1960, he was united in marriage to Mary Begley, together they moved to Iowa City where they raised their family. Frank worked for the Iowa City School District for over 31 years before retiring in 2003. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing the Lottery, traveling, but most of all spending time with his family. Frank’s family includes wife Mary of Iowa City; daughters, Julie (Dave) Reinhardt of Coralville, Lisa (Kim) Chaloupka of Oxford; sons Steve Pfeiffer of Iowa City, and Frank Pfeiffer of Mechanicsville, IA; grandchildren, Cheree Pfeiffer, Kristen Reinhardt, Daniel Reinhardt, Nick Chaloupka, and Tyler Chaloupka; great-granddaughter Keeley Kinney; brother, Floyd Pfeiffer of Windsor, MO; sister, Roberta Svuba of St Joseph, MO. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Sarah Reinhardt; three brothers, Thomas Pfeiffer, William Pfeiffer, David Pfeiffer; and sister, Ruby Pfeiffer.
