Obituary of Genevieve Ruth Masters

Genevieve R. Masters, 89 formerly of Iowa City died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at a health center in St. Petersburg, FL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2008, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Michael Phillips officiating. Burial will be at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 5 to 7pm Friday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service where a parish rosary will be said at 6pm. Memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society. Genevieve Ruth Wieneke Masters was born April 13, 1918, in Little Sioux, Iowa the daughter of Bert and Christene (Weseley) Wieneke. She graduated from University High School in Iowa City. She was united in marriage to Charles Kenneth Masters in September of 1939. Genevieve has lived in Iowa, California, Ohio, and since 1962 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Here she was a member of the Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. Her family includes a brother, Richard Wieneke of West Branch; two sisters, Laurine Fischer and Darlene Mottet both of Iowa City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Kenneth in 1983. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Genevieve’s family and her services.
