Obituary of Gary Lee Knapp

Gary L. Knapp, 56 of 2430 Muscatine Avenue, Iowa City died Friday, February 08, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a courageous battle with cancer. Family services will be held through Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Gary’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Gary Lee Knapp was born November 5, 1951, in Centerville, Iowa the son of Carroll and Beverely J. (O’Hair) Knapp. Following graduation from Iowa City City High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was raised in the Davenport area, has lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Dallas, TX, and most recently Phoenix, AZ before returning to Iowa City this month. His family includes a daughter and her husband, Melissa and Jeff Kaufman of Iowa City; grandchildren, Alexandria and Andrew; sisters, Sandee Warren (Marty) of Blue Grass, IA, Robin Koupal (Steve) of Davenport; brothers, David Knapp of Davenport, Mark Hunt (Sarah) of Atlanta, GA, John Hunt (Casey) of Norman, OK, Scott Hunt (Kim) of Las Vegas, NV; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Gary’s family and his services.
