Obituary of Pamela E. Pettit-Noel
Pamela Elaine Pettit-Noel, 43 of 864 Oxen Lane, Iowa City died Saturday, February 2, 2008, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2008, at the Valley Church near Swisher, Iowa. Family graveside services will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Pamela Elaine Noel was born September 19, 1964, in Compton, California, the daughter of Roy and Ellaine (Jackson) Noel. Following high school she went on to receive her MSW and MPH from San Diego State University, and her PhD from University of North Carolina. Since moving to Iowa City in 1998 she has been associated with the University of Iowa, first in the completion of her PhD studies, and since as Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work. She married Glenn A. Pettit-Noel on December 31, 2007 in Swisher, Iowa. Pamela was a member of a number of professional associations, she was appointed to by the Governor to the Iowa Council for Early ACCESS, and was a member of the Valley Church near Swisher. Pam and Glenn have had a passion for fostering children, and over the years they have helped numerous children. Her family includes her husband, Glenn Pettit-Noel; son, Elijah Noel; mother, Ellaine Taggert, all of Iowa City; father, Roy Noel of California; brother, Tony Noel and his wife, Shirley and their family from Georgia; step-grandfather, Clarence Wilson of California; her step-children, Emilee and Dylan Pettit of Cedar Rapids; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; Remembering Pam: Proverbs 31:25-31: She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
