Obituary of Charles Lyle, Jr.
Charles Lyle, Jr., 89, of Ingleside, Illinois died Thursday, February 22, 2007 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend Paul Martin officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Charles memory to Alliance Bible Church, 3815 Bull Valley Road, McHenry, Illinois 60050. Online condolences may be sent for his family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Charles was born December 23, 1917, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Charles and Rose (Ruby) Lyle. Chuck completed high school in Des Moines, but his studies at the University of Iowa were interrupted by WWII. Prior to his active duty, he married Glenda Hope Bell in Iowa City on April 4, 1942. During WWII Charles served in the United States Army in North Africa and Italy. Returning from service, he completed his Bachelors Degree and then he and his wife moved to Chicago where he was employed in the banking profession. He enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, cooking and traveling. Glenda died November 11, 1994. His family includes his daughter Charla Hope Bolind and her husband Michael; granddaughter Charissa Hope Bolind and grandson Alan Michael Bolind all of Ingleside, IL and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
