Obituary of Mary Bell Glick

Mary Bell Glick, 97 of Oaknoll Retirement Residence, Iowa City died at Saturday, January 20, 2007, at Oaknoll. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2007, at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Iowa City In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Mary Bell’s memory to Project Green of Iowa City or the Unitarian Universalist Society of Iowa City. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @www.gayandciha.com. Mary Bell Read was born September 21, 1909 in Junction City, KS, the daughter of William and Emma (Gfeller) Read. Following graduation from high school in Manhattan, Kansas she attended and graduated from Kansas State University in Manhattan with her degree in physical education. In 1932 she married Dr. Frank Glick. Dr. Glick became the Director of the School of Social Work at the University of Iowa in 1962, bringing them to Iowa City. Mary Bell has always been active in the Unitarian Society, having been a member in Lincoln, NE and Needham, MA before coming to Iowa City, where she was very involved here. Dr. Glick died November 24, 1996. Her family includes her daughter, Anne Glick Cilek of Wentzville, MO, son, Joe Glick of Las Vegas, NV; granddaughter, Amanda McKay of St. Louis, Mo, grandson, Jeffrey Cilek of Lake St. Louis, MO; and three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Sarah, and Marisa McKay all of St. Louis, MO.
