Obituary of J. Maxine Hora
J. Maxine Hora, age 91 formerly of 913 Willow Street, most recently of Emerson Point in Iowa City died Friday, October 6, 2006, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2006, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City with the Reverend Karl Divine-Koch officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6pm Monday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her memory to Iowa City Hospice. Online condolences may be sent for her family through our website @ www.gayandciha.com. Maxine was born September 15, 1915, in Iowa City, the daughter of William and Lena (Breese) Myers. She attended Iowa City Schools, graduating from University High Schools in 1934. On August 21, 1936, she married Roger O. Hora at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She had worked for J.C. Penneys downtown and later for the Iowa City School District in food service. She was a longtime member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Iowa City. Her family includes her daughter, Marcia Fogerty and her husband, Steven of Omaha, NE; and granddaughter, Kelly Lynn Fogerty; and numerous nieces and nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roger on November 18, 1988, sister, Violet Bream, and brother, Edwin Myers.
