Obituary of Stanley Hirt

Stanley N. Hirt, 92, of Hills, Iowa died Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Atrium Village, Hills. Graveside services will be 10 am, Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Monday, April 24, 2006 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, Hill Chapel, Hills, Iowa. Stanley was born March 8, 1914 in rural Johnson County to Robert and Laura (Hartman) Hirt. He was a graduate of Sharon High School, Sharon Center. He married Pauline Grothe on October 21, 1939 in Hills, Iowa. She preceded him in death on November 9, 1995. Stanley was a lifetime resident of the Hills area, farming in Sharon Township until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of the Iowa City Elks, the Friends Club of Hills Bank and was a founding member of the Hills Town and Country. Stanley’s family includes numerous nieces and nephews. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three sisters and three brothers. Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Stanley’s family and his services.
